Flying Instruction

Obtaining your licence is more affordable than you think.

We offer personalised practical instruction in your own time and welcome people who want to experience the pleasure of flying. Introductory flights can be arranged in any of the aircraft. The following Pilot Licences and Instruction are available:

PPL (Private Pilot License) Instruction

Practical Flying PPL includes:

  • Flying Instruction: Including Instructor & School aircraft. This includes all pre- and post flight briefings.
  • CAA required hours of Flying Instruction: 45 Hours, approximately 30 Hours Dual, depending on student performance and 15 Hours Solo, under supervision. Dual and solo cross-country to be done.
  • Aircraft options: Jabiru J400 (4-seater), Jabiru SP
  • Practical Flight Test is done by a different Instructor.
  • Fuel and Oil included.

MPL (Microlight Pilot License) and NPL (National Pilot License) Instruction

Practical Flying MPL includes:

  • Flying Instruction: Including Instructor & School aircraft. This includes all pre- and post flight briefings.
  • CAA required hours of Flying Instruction: 25 Hours for MPL weight to shift and 35 hours for NPL, approximately 10 Hours Dual, depending on student performance and 15 Hours Solo, under supervision. Dual and solo cross-country to be done.
  • Aircraft options: Jabiru JSP, Weightshift Trike
  • Practical Flight Test is done by a different Instructor.
  • Fuel and Oil included.

Ground Schooling

  • Subjects are: Principles of Flight, Meteorology, Aircraft Technical, Navigation, Flight Planning, Human Performance, Air Law and Radio Course.
    Examinations in all the subjects have a pass rate of 75%.
  • Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Other times can be arranged at an additional cost unless number of students is sufficient.
  • All subjects are compulsory for the PPL licence. Should you opt for the MPL and or NPL the subjects Human Performance, and flight planning and performance are not required.
  • Re-lectures are charged at R80/hour.
  • NOTE: Ground schooling for both licences are the same. If MPL training is started on the Jabiru, a PPL can be obtained in the same aircraft, by just flying the additional hours required.
